So... I started photography like so many other people around the world...with my first simple camera. Soon it became a passion and I developed into the "official" photographer of my friends.
For the past 10 years I gained considerable knowledge of taking photos, from some of the best photographers in Portugal. My work was to give them information of new technical equipment, and in exchange they thought me all about light and studio techniques, how to frame ... and most of all different perspectives to view the same scenario. I photographed weddings, all kind of different social events.
I got into sports only four years ago, when I also discovered windsurfing. I always travel a lot - following the wind, but I am not able to sail all the time. Most of the time my equipment is not good enough for certain conditions, but with that, and always with my camera at hand, - I have the privilege to photograph a lot ..
Guincho, because I live here, but also Tarifa, are perfect for my life style. During the last four years I took pictures of all kind of events, in several water sports. I'm addicted to that. At one of my surf trips to Hurgada, I met my actual girl from Poland. I moved to Poland shortly after, and one of the main reasons was that there are no windsurfing magazines in Portugal, and consequently no market for my photos. Additionally I also wanted to learn the sport from the best.
I quit everything, - a well paid job, a good life, - and left for the cold Poland, where I somehow try to survive. Beautiful country with a difficult language, and a very advanced windsurfing community with the very best Formula racers.

I already have some contacts with a few magazines, but can not relay on that. I was editor of some former national Portuguese Surf magazines. Some of my photos are publish in others, but I want more; I want the opportunity to photograph the best, on the right spots, with the sun in my back.... For now I have some surf trips already booked. In this phase as a professional, everything is new. The competition is very strong, but I believe that I can do better and better, and I'm patient enough to grow up, waiting for my time to come.
Guincho is my favorite spot in Portugal, with the best sailors from all over the world to challenge the technical local waves. September was on of the best months for the last few years, with strong wind and nice waves. It was like that I met Julien. Very nice style, aggressive on the waves, knowing exactly where the wave initiate ... Soon he earned the respect of the local community, and that is not easy. Waiting for his time, respecting that the waves are for all - also got my attention. Eventually I had the opportunity the speak with him, and it was not a surprise.. He is an excellent person, a genuine windsurfer.
This is the rewarding part of my photographing life. I always meet great persons and I love what I am doing.
Best Regards,
